DR NATHAN BRIDGER
My name is Dr. Nathan Bridger and I’m Sports and Family Chiropractor, a speaker, a health educator and beard enthusiast. I have spoken to people over the world and regularly speak around Australia to people wanting to get healthier and to other health practitioners wanting to improve the health of their patients.
I am extremely passionate about what I do and I truly love helping people perform better in all areas of their lives. In the office, I focus on what is called the 3 P’s.
PAIN, POSTURE AND PERFORMANCE.
When the majority of people come to see me initially they are looking for help with some kind of pain and believe me I get it I would want to get rid of my pain too. The problem is that in almost all cases by the time you feel the pain, the body has probably been compensating and losing performance and function for a number of months and in a lot of cases years.
There are 6 areas or requirements of health that your body needs to meet in order for you to perform at your peak. Those are nutrition, movement, mindset (mental health), sleep, physical health (cleanliness) and your posture. Now most of us have cleanliness sorted, well except maybe that one guy you'll work with, but you may not realise that you can be exercising and eating right but might be in a stressful relationship, burning the candle at both ends and not sleeping enough or might have poor spinal posture which could be leading to poor function, low energy and eventually pain.
Pain is essentially the body’s way of telling you something is not quite right. Almost like you are in a burning building and the smoke alarm is going off. Now you wouldn’t just reach up and pull the battery out of the alarm to stop it sounding or at least I hope not, but the truth is that is exactly what you may be doing with your body. You see we ignore or cover up the signs and symptoms when our body is trying to tell us that something is not right. Think about it, every time you take a pill to help with the pain, whether it's back pain, neck pain a headache or whatever it may be, are you really addressing the problem?
What I pride myself on is helping people just like you understand their bodies from a different perspective altogether.
You may have thought or heard like the majority of people that chiropractic is for back pain, neck pain and headaches but really it is actually to assist the body to function better so it can, in turn, heal better and so those pains can actually recover properly. It is all about removing the dysfunction/interference the spine (and other parts of the body) are putting on the underlying nervous system (Brain, Spinal cord and Spinal nerves).
As proper posture and alignment is really a requirement for good health, even if you are exercising and eating all the right foods the body still cannot function at 100% if there is interference to the nervous system.
When we work to restore normal alignment to the body by correcting abnormal spinal positions and dysfunctional patterns the body is able to heal and function in the way that it should, allowing you to perform at your peak.
Chiropractic is suitable for everyone and I have personally worked with children just days old all the way up to an amazing 105-year-old woman in Peru, medical doctors, lawyers, tradies, professional athletes and probably everyone in between and what I have seen is that every single human being does better when they have a healthy spine and good posture. There is just no doubt about it. Like brushing your teeth regularly to live a healthy happy life performing at your peak, maintaining your spine and having regular checks by a chiropractor is a sure way to stack the odds in your favour.
